If you enjoy discovering new horizons in the world of breeding, the variety simply called THCV from Kannabia Seed Company should not escape your attention. It is a feminised photoperiod plant that represents a significant achievement in the stabilisation of rare cannabinoids. This 100% sativa was bred with a clear goal: to offer high levels of Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) in a plant that is stable, vigorous and surprisingly easy to grow.
Genetics: A rare 1:1 ratio
The development of this variety is the result of years of research and the isolation of specific phenotypes. The genetic background is based on the stabilisation of THCV-rich lines, which probably originate from original landrace sativas, where this cannabinoid occurs naturally. The result is a unique chemotype with a balanced THC to THCV 1:1 ratio, with laboratory tests usually showing an approximate content of 7% for both of these substances.
Morphology and sativa structure
Although it is a pure sativa, the breeders have managed to tame its growth into a manageable form. The plant grows vigorously, but does not become uncontrollable indoors. It is characterised by typical sativa leaves - narrow, thin and elegant. The flowers are looser and airier than those of indicas, which is a natural defence against moisture retention. They are elongated and richly covered in resin.
Cultivation and earthy aroma
This variety is rated as easy to grow and, thanks to its high resistance to pests and mould, it is suitable for growers of all levels. Indoors it finishes flowering in 60 to 65 days with a yield of up to 600 g/m². Outdoors it is ready for harvest at the turn of September and October and provides approx. 500 g per plant.
The aromatic profile is fresh and earthy. You will notice distinct notes of citrus and spices, creating a clean, “herbal” aroma that is so typical of original sativa varieties and landrace genetics.
