    Feminised seeds are a major advantage for cannabis growers, as they eliminate the risk of male plants appearing in the crop. Male plants naturally produce pollen, which, after pollinating female plants, causes the females to focus their energy on producing seeds instead of resinous flowers (buds) rich in cannabinoids such as THC and CBD. This process dramatically reduces the overall yield and quality of the harvest.

    Thanks to feminised seeds, the grower has an almost 100% certainty that each planted seed will grow into a female plant. This brings several key benefits:

    • Guaranteed female plants: There is no need to identify and remove males, which saves space, time and effort.

    • Maximum yield: All the plant's energy is directed towards flower production, not seed formation after unwanted pollination.

    • Ideal for quality flowers: Growers can rely on a harvest rich in cannabinoids and aromatic terpenes.

    These seeds are produced using special breeding methods. Breeders use specific techniques (for example, applying a silver thiosulphate solution) to induce a selected female plant to start producing pollen. This pollen, because it comes from a female plant, carries only female chromosomes. Subsequent pollination of another female plant with this pollen produces seeds that are genetically destined to grow into exclusively female plants.

    The feminised seed category is very diverse and includes both classic photoperiod varieties, which flower depending on changes in day and night length, and popular auto-flowering variants, which flower independently of the light cycle. It also includes fast life-cycle varieties (Fast) and special high-CBD varieties.
