Product detailed description

The jewel in the crown of Kannabia Seed Company

If you are looking for the best and most stable that this breeding bank has to offer, your choice should be Mataro Blue. This feminised photoperiod strain is considered the company’s flagship and rightly ranks among the best-selling genetics in their catalogue. It is an indica-dominant hybrid (approximately 75 % Indica / 25 % Sativa) that was bred with an emphasis on maximum resin production, visual appeal and, above all, user-friendliness for growers of all experience levels.

Triple cross of elite indicas

The exceptional nature of Mataro Blue lies in its complex lineage. The breeders created a sophisticated triple cross of legendary and resilient genetics: Black Domina x Mazar-i-Sharif x Blue Monster. Each parent contributed the best to the resulting plant: Black Domina provided a solid structure, Mazar-i-Sharif added high productivity and Blue Monster took care of the sought-after bluish aesthetic. The result is a robust and stable genetic line you can rely on.

Morphology: Blue velvet and a resin explosion

In your garden, Mataro Blue shows robust, bushy growth with a strong root system. It is characterised by thick and sturdy stems that can easily support the weight of heavy flowers, and large broad leaves. This strain is often described as a “trichome bomb” – it produces a strong, viscous layer of white resin that literally floods the flowers.

The real visual show, however, begins when you expose the plant to cooler conditions. If temperatures during flowering drop below 18 °C, the leaves and flowers begin to display beautiful blue and purple shades that look absolutely stunning in contrast with the white resin.

Cultivation and specifics

Mataro Blue is valued for its high adaptability and is classified as easy to grow. It shows excellent resistance to pests and also tolerates periodic drought well, which makes it a very forgiving choice for beginners. Indoors, these annual plants finish flowering in approximately 58 to 60 days with a yield of up to 600 g/m². When grown outdoors, you can expect harvest at the beginning of October, while under optimal conditions one plant can produce up to an impressive 800 grams of dried product.

Sophisticated aromatic profile

The aroma of this strain is deep and refined. The primary notes of bitter orange and citrus immediately capture your senses. Secondary layers then gradually unfold, where you can recognise forest fruits, jasmine and earthy nuances reminiscent of quality hashish or sandalwood.
